Job summary

First Student in Swiftwater, PA is hiring a Diesel Mechanic I to maintain and repair school buses for safe student transport. Day shift, Monday–Friday, 9:30am–6:00pm, with starting pay at $30.29 per hour and ASE/ CDL training provided by the company.

You will diagnose issues, perform brake and engine work, complete PMs, and assist with mobile repairs as needed. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and career growth across 540 locations.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years diesel/auto maintenance experience or equivalent technical school education.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days; company-paid training.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification (bonuses provided).
• Strong computer skills.
• DOT safety-sensitive role and drug testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
