Job summary

Knife River is seeking a skilled Mechanic to repair and maintain trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, and other heavy equipment. The role features a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with one Saturday per month, and may require overtime or night work depending on weather and customer demand.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of heavy equipment experience, and may hold CDL endorsements or mechanic certifications. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of heavy equipment experience.
• GED or equivalent required.
• CDL endorsements and mechanic certifications are preferred.
• Current medical card is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, overtime, some nights and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Utilize manuals, hand tools & power tools.
• Utilize online diagnostics and resource tools.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake and transmission systems.
• Read job orders and observe equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Repair components and reassemble systems to spec.
• Ensure safety devices and guards are in place and functioning.
