Job summary

County Materials in Green Bay, Wisconsin is seeking a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair diesel engines, trucks, and heavy equipment. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and DOT compliance, with hands-on diagnostics and preventative maintenance responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in diesel mechanics, strong hydraulic/mechanical/welding skills, and a valid license. A sign-on bonus of $1,500 is awarded after six months of continuous employment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in diesel mechanics.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Strong hydraulic, mechanical, and welding experience.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, trucks, and heavy-duty equipment.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs as needed.
• Complete preventive maintenance (PMs) and DOT inspections.
• Respond to emergency and unscheduled breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and service docs.
• Operate, maintain, and inspect shop tools and equipment.
• Document repairs and maintenance accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
