Job summary

County Materials in Marathon, Wisconsin is seeking a Diesel Technician to service diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment. This role focuses on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure safe, DOT-compliant operations of fleet and assets.

The ideal candidate will perform PMs, troubleshoot diesel systems, read manuals and schematics, and document repairs while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and supporting special projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in diesel mechanics.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• Pro-active, multi-tasking, team player with a positive attitude.
• Experience with hydraulic, mechanical, and welding work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, trucks, and heavy-duty equipment.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs as needed.
• Complete preventative maintenance (PMs) and DOT inspections.
• Respond to emergency and unscheduled equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
• Operate, maintain, and inspect shop tools and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
• Accurately document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Support team operations and assist with special projects or tasks.
• Use hand and power tools, material handling equipment, welders, and cutting torches.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
