Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Diesel Technician in New York, NY to perform diagnostics, repairs and component installations on trucks and engines. You will read repair orders, troubleshoot electrical systems, and verify repairs with road tests.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of diesel technician experience, a valid driver’s license, and a full set of hand tools. A safety-minded approach and basic PC skills are essential for daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and mechanical aptitude required.
• 1–2 years minimum experience as a medium/heavy diesel technician.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must possess a full set of personal hand tools.
• Knowledge of commercial truck and engine repair preferred.
• Completed diesel/automotive certificate programs or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Able to use a PC and basic applications.
• High School Diploma or GED; vocational/technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical service on vehicles and equipment including troubleshooting, electrical and diagnostic work.
• Read repair orders and perform general and detailed repairs on trucks, engines and components.
• Install components such as injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, bearings, oil pans, clutches and transmissions.
• Inspect guards and safety devices and adjust as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and road-test to verify repairs.
• Advise service staff if additional work is required.
• Tag return warranty parts.
• Maintain a neat, safe work environment and handle tools properly.
• Follow safety procedures and seek assistance when needed.
• Participate in other projects or initiatives as assigned.
