I. General Job Description

This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all types of commercial trucks and equipment, working out of a fully equipped mobile service truck. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing all vehicles and equipment serviced by the Company’s facilities, with a focus on quality, product knowledge, and customer service.

The duties listed are illustrative; other related or similar work may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs within estimated time per industry standards.
  • Grow and maintain the customer base.
  • Perform DOT inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, charging, starting systems, engine, HVAC, powertrain, and chassis components.
  • Diagnose and remove components such as injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, bearings, and transmission/clutch parts.
  • Use diagnostic equipment, software, and technical publications to determine root causes and solutions.
  • Maintain the service truck, tools, and parts inventory as per company standards.
  • Document work thoroughly, supporting complaints, causes, and corrections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance when requested.
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and foster relationships.
  • Report deferred repairs to customers and management.
  • Be available after hours and on alternate days as needed.

II. Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • At least 4 years of dealer experience as a Diesel/Service Technician.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License with a qualified MVR abstract.
  • Meet minimum tool requirements (specified below).

III. Desired Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 5 years of dealership or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

IV. Mental Capability Requirements

  • Understanding: Ability to comprehend complex problems, collaborate, and explore solutions.
  • Organization: Ability to prioritize work over short-term and medium-term periods.
  • Reasoning & Decision-Making: Make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate via phone and other means.
  • Mathematics: Analyze and interpret numerical data for reporting.

V. Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employees must frequently handle tools and parts, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift weights up to 65 pounds. The environment includes exposure to moving parts, electrical hazards, weather, and loud noise, with accommodations available for disabilities.
