Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Scheduling your time and appointments. If you have no work scheduled, you will be dispatched work as available in the shop.
- Opening and closing of your repair orders daily, including obtaining all necessary purchase orders.
- Billing all parts and lubricants from the service truck inventory. Inventory on the truck will be taken periodically.
- Maintaining and properly servicing the assigned service truck. Interstate Truck Center will supply parts, fuel, and tires. Keep the service truck clean inside and outside to maintain a high visual image to customers.
- Performing work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnosing causes of malfunctions and performing repairs.
- Communicating with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saving and tagging parts for warranty or customer requests.
- Examining vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicating with customers about additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documenting all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road testing vehicles when required.
- Participating in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Completing all necessary training as directed by the Service and/or Training Manager.
- Reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and notifying the service advisor of any changes.
- Maintaining dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in good condition.
- Complying with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
- Operating tools and equipment safely and reporting safety issues immediately.
- Receiving training on hazardous waste management, spill prevention, universal waste management, and safety, with annual updates.
- Receiving training on emergency procedures related to petroleum tanks and contingency plans.
- Being trained in measures to respond to fires and explosions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in heavy truck dealership preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
