Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  1. Scheduling your time and appointments. If you have no work scheduled, you will be dispatched work as available in the shop.
  2. Opening and closing of your repair orders daily, including obtaining all necessary purchase orders.
  3. Billing all parts and lubricants from the service truck inventory. Inventory on the truck will be taken periodically.
  4. Maintaining and properly servicing the assigned service truck. Interstate Truck Center will supply parts, fuel, and tires. Keep the service truck clean inside and outside to maintain a high visual image to customers.
  5. Performing work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
  6. Diagnosing causes of malfunctions and performing repairs.
  7. Communicating with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  8. Saving and tagging parts for warranty or customer requests.
  9. Examining vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  10. Communicating with customers about additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  11. Documenting all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  12. Road testing vehicles when required.
  13. Participating in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  14. Keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  15. Completing all necessary training as directed by the Service and/or Training Manager.
  16. Reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  17. Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and notifying the service advisor of any changes.
  18. Maintaining dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in good condition.
  19. Complying with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
  20. Operating tools and equipment safely and reporting safety issues immediately.
  21. Receiving training on hazardous waste management, spill prevention, universal waste management, and safety, with annual updates.
  22. Receiving training on emergency procedures related to petroleum tanks and contingency plans.
  23. Being trained in measures to respond to fires and explosions.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in heavy truck dealership preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
