Job summary

First Student, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician for our Wichita shop. The role offers a Monday–Friday day shift from 12:30pm to 9:00pm, with an hourly rate of $21–$25 depending on experience.

Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing school buses, performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs with company-paid ASE testing and CDL

Qualifications

• 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance experience or equivalent technical school education.
• Vehicle diagnostics and problem-solving skills required.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days (company paid training).
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (training and bonuses provided).
• DOT drug testing as safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; complete work orders accurately.
