Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary degree or technical certifications preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance.
• Two years or more of training and/or work experience preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Uses the Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Follows safety, DOT, MOT guidelines and company policies.
• Performs other support duties to assist operations.
