Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Technician for our Schaumburg shop to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability for students. This day shift role offers a sign-on bonus and competitive hourly pay, with company-paid ASE testing and CDL training, plus a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent technical schooling
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver's license required
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment with company-paid training
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program
• Strong computer skills
• Position is safety-sensitive and drug-tested under DOT 49 CFR Part 40

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
• Complete work orders accurately
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
