Job summary

TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You will execute repairs safely, maintain a clean work area, and communicate repair plans to the Service Advisor. Flexibility in hours and a commitment to safety are required.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, with trade school experience or previous mechanic work. Ownership of tools is expected, along with a willingness to learn and grow within TA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Graduate of acceptable trade school or manufacturer's technical school, or previous mechanic experience
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge via education and training programs
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and some holidays in interior and exterior conditions
• Meet the requirements for the needed physical tasks with or without accommodation
• Investment in own tools

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy duty trucks and trailers to industry standards
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results; develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Promote TA services during inspection reviews and ensure safety for customers and staff
