Job summary

Fraley and Schilling, Inc. in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Diesel Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair engines and systems, conduct test drives, and ensure safety and efficiency of trucks and equipment.

The role requires strong diagnostic skills, welding ability, forklift operation, and experience with heavy-duty alignments and components. A technical education and several years in diesel maintenance are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills and ability to use computer programs for diagnosing and programming changes (Insight, Diagnostic link, Bendix, Wabco)
• Knowledge of Conestoga repairs
• Ability to weld metal and aluminum
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to rebuild dolly legs and doors
• Ability to replace crossmembers and repair bogies
• Must be able to perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanic maintenance on commercial motor vehicles to ensure trucks and equipment are prepared safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment daily, perform basic cleanings, reset equipment for coming days and complete repairs for production continuity.
• Determine vehicle condition by inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts.
• Keep equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules and maintaining records of services and repairs.
• Correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing or replacing major components and systems; conduct test drives to verify performance.
• Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options; update knowledge through education and publications.
