Job summary

E.W. Wylie is seeking a journeyman technician to maintain and repair a large fleet of Class A tractors in a fast-paced environment. You will lead preventative and corrective maintenance, guiding entry-level technicians while ensuring safety and reliability of our fleet.

The role requires hands-on diesel repair experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. Competitive pay is based on experience and schedules are in a full-time, on-site setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 1 year of heavy equipment experience.
  • Must own and utilize a complete set of tools required for performing all maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or certification in diesel technology or automotive technology with 2+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on a variety of trucks and equipment, including oil changes, filter services, APU services, DOT inspections, and other services.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on the fleet, including accident work, body panel replacement, electrical diagnosis, driver monitoring equipment, and other complex issues.
  • Use diagnostic software and mechanical knowledge to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Review maintenance software to identify service needs and repair history trends; create repair orders and track time and parts.

In this journeyman technician position, you'll hit the ground running in a large, fast-paced fleet environment. You'll ensure that our fleet of Class A tractors stays in top shape by ensuring all preventative and corrective maintenance is completed. You'll handle the process from the initial inspection through the final inspection. You'll use your mechanical experience to guide entry-level technicians, keep our drivers safe, and ensure our operation keeps running like a well-oiled machine. Your Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance //Complete preventative maintenance (PMs) on a variety of trucks and equipment. PMs include oil changes, filter services, APU services, DOT inspections, and other services.
  • Corrective Maintenance //Perform corrective maintenance on our fleet, including accident work, body panel replacement, electrical diagnosis, driver monitoring equipment, and other complex issues.
  • Diagnosis //Utilize diagnostic software and mechanical knowledge to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Maintenance Software //Review maintenance software to identify service needs and repair history trends. Additionally, creates one's own repair orders and ensures a high level of accuracy in time tracking, parts utilized, and notes.
Your Skillset
  • Diesel Repair //Demonstrable experience in the completion of preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy-duty equipment.
  • Tool Proficiency //Possesses an expert level understanding of both hand and power tools.
  • Time Management //Proven ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment while managing one's own time effectively.
  • Communication Skills //Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, which are required to effectively communicate and track repair orders.
  • Diagnostics and Computer Skills //Proficiency using equipment diagnostic software, as well as prior experience using maintenance tracking software.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A(n) High School Diploma, or equivalent, and at least one (1) year of experience working on heavy equipment. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.
  • Tool Ownership //Must own and utilize a complete set of tools required for performing all maintenance and repair tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A(n) Associate's degree or certification in diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field, and at least two (2) years of experience working on heavy equipment. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.
