Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Ypsilanti, Michigan — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Compensation & Bonuses
- Hourly Pay: $26.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign‑On Bonus: $2,000 at 30 days and $2,000 at 90 days
- Schedule: Monday through Friday (Weekends OFF)
- Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools (required)
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) (required)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
- Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance
- Perform standard component inspections and repairs
- Conduct preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
