Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Saginaw, Michigan, on a team known for high-quality service and strong employee support. The role features weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Diesel Technician you will diagnose and repair mechanical/electronic systems on heavy-duty vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, and provide excellent customer interaction with drivers. Second shift: 2:00 pm–10:30 pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months.
Basic tools required.
Experience in mechanical repair of automotive diesel engines.

Responsibilities

Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
Performs preventive maintenance.
Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
Replaces defective components as instructed.
Performs facility maintenance duties.
Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
Follows safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.
Performs other support duties to assist operations.

Hourly Pay & Bonuses

Hourly Pay: $26.50 per hour
Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year
Sign On Bonus: Ryder Pays You $2000 at 30 days and $2000 at 90 days
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Hours: Second Shift 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
Basic tools, required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder Drug Test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
