Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Winfield, Tennessee is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair vehicles on our modern fleet. The role offers weekly pay and comprehensive benefits, with a focus on safety and state-of-the-art equipment.

Shift details include second shift, Monday–Friday, with weekends off; diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and customer communication are key. A CDL is preferred and training is provided to qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred).
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance.
• Two or more years of classroom training and work experience in the required field (preferred).
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) and ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor-vehicle check (last 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
• Replace defective components as instructed.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
• Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation.
• Work in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines and perform other support duties as required.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Pay: $25.50 per hour
• Certification Bonus: up to $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700 total)
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Schedule: Monday through Friday; weekends off
• Hours: Second Shift Monday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Tuesday–Friday 11:30 am – 8:00 pm

• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
