Job description

Diesel Service Technician

Customer satisfaction is a result of your personal work habits and ethics and is of utmost importance as part of your job function.

The Diesel Service Technician is responsible for setting goals for personal service improvement and monitoring progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production targets as provided by the Service Manager.

  • Perform maintenance and repair work specified on orders for Diesel Vehicles efficiently and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, and air conditioning to specifications.
  • Provide labor and time estimates for additional repairs.
  • Explain diagnoses and repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training to stay current with rapidly changing technology.
  • Inspect and test new vehicles, recording findings to facilitate necessary repairs.

As a Diesel Service Technician, you should be experienced with the latest automotive technologies and a persistent problem solver. Factors that may enable your success include:

  • Factory Diesel Certification is highly preferred.
  • All factory-certified technicians are encouraged to apply.
  • Willingness to discuss opportunities with recent tech school graduates.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and committed to high customer service standards.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment systems, diagnostic tools, and AC equipment.
