Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking a skilled Service Technician to repair and maintain our customers' medium and heavy-duty trucks. This role involves diagnosing issues, preventative maintenance, disassembly and re-assembly, and writing detailed work notes.

The position requires 2–4 years of experience, ASE and Cummins qualifications are a plus, and basic computer skills. A valid CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training.
• ASE Certification is a plus.
• Cummins engine repair certification is a plus.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• High School Diploma; college/technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and performs repairs.
• Communicates with parts to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or requested.
• Examines vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is needed.
• Documents all work performed and communicates updates.

The Service Technician at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customers Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks. This includes diagnosing issues, preventative maintenance, repairs, disassembly and re-assembly, and writing detailed work notes.

Essential Duties

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of malfunctions and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor/dispatcher immediately on repair updates and or delays.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Skills and Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ASE Certification a plus
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification a plus
• Basic computer skills
• High School Diploma- College or Technical training preferred, but not required
• Valid CDL License a plus
