Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is hiring a Service Technician to repair and maintain our customers' medium and heavy-duty trucks. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, disassembly and re-assembly, and write detailed work notes.

The role requires 2–4 years of related experience, basic computer skills, and a high school diploma (college/technical training preferred). You will work within a network of dealer locations and participate in safety and quality standards while growing your

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of malfunctions and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor/dispatcher immediately on repair updates and delays.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures vehicle is kept clean and notifies changes in appearance or condition.
• Maintains and is accountable for dealership-owned tools and manuals.
• Keeps abreast of regulations and manufacturer bulletins.
• Operates all tools/equipment safely and reports safety issues.

The Service Technician at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customers Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks. This includes diagnosing issues, preventative maintenance, repairs, disassembly and re-assembly, and writing detailed work notes.

• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Skills and Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills
• High School Diploma- College or Technical training preferred, but not required
