Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Diesel Technician in Tennessee. This role involves the repair and maintenance of diesel equipment used in aggregate production. Candidates need to demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and must be capable of working as part of a team or independently.

Responsibilities include diagnosing diesel engines, performing maintenance, and ensuring safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience with heavy construction equipment and hold at least a high school diploma.

Qualifications

Diesel Technician

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of diesel equipment used in aggregate production. Related equipment includes engine, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems.

What You'll Do
  • Advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment including air systems, oil analysis, cooling system.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Troubleshooting of fuel system including ability to perform diagnostic test with manufacturer software.
  • Test & adjust all of the following hydraulic and hydrostatic systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting & diagnosing circuit faults.
  • Basic troubleshooting for entire fuel system.
  • Disassemble & assemble pumps & lines for the fuel system.
  • Ability to properly troubleshoot Tier 4 Systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Inspect diesel equipment and related equipment for safety and compliance issues.
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest diesel equipment technology.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
Other Requirements
  • Willing to travel to all locations within geographic area.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands; must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Overnight travel required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field is also preferred.
Experience
  • Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Related equipment knowledge on engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems.
  • General understanding of basic electrical, powertrain and hydraulic knowledge, moderate usage of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes.
  • Previous experience with CAT SIS or ET programs highly desired.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment.
  • Experience with aggregate equipment a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
