Job summary

Jobot in Sanford, FL is seeking a hands-on Diesel Technician to support a modern fleet of vacuum trucks and hydro excavation equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and basic diagnostics to keep equipment safe and ready for customers.

This role offers steady work, exposure to specialized equipment, and a pathway into more advanced diagnostics. Key tasks include PMs, inspections, basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of diesel or heavy equipment experience.
  • Strong understanding of PMs, brakes, suspension, and general repairs.
  • Basic diagnostic ability (mechanical and electrical).
  • CDL is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily work assignments based on the Plan of the Day.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues; escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Complete standard service work including filters, fluids, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure required parts are available prior to starting jobs.
  • Complete Check-In/Check-Out inspections on incoming and outgoing units.
  • Maintain accurate records in Fleetio or similar system.
  • Submit daily documentation to Operations and Accounting.
  • Keep assigned trucks and work areas clean and ready for use.
  • Follow DOT, federal, and state regulations; conduct pre-trip & post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain valid CDL medical certification.
  • Use PPE and shop safety protocols.
  • Report safety concerns or incidents immediately.
  • Assist with basic equipment walk-throughs for customers.
  • Respond to customer questions professionally.
  • Support team priorities to ensure fleet uptime.

Salary: $28 - $32 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing
Maintenance & Repairs
  • Execute daily work assignments based on the Plan of the Day
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs

Fleet Operations & Documentation
  • Complete Check-In / Check-Out inspections on incoming and outgoing units

Safety & Compliance (Safety-Sensitive Role)
  • Follow all DOT, federal, and state regulations when operating vehicles
  • Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections
