Job summary

Meiborg Companies in Rockford, IL is seeking a diesel technician to maintain and repair diesel-powered equipment, ensuring safety and reliability through proactive service.

You will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and document work orders. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, Rx, 401k with company match, life insurance, and short-term disability. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience as a diesel technician; Preferred: Three or more years of experience as a diesel technician
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or two years trade school in the field of diesel technician/mechanic preferred
  • Perform required inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment within planned time tolerance to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Perform FAI/CVI inspections on fleet equipment
  • Perform quality maintenance repairs as required
  • Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups timely and efficiently
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Follow procedures including document all work performed on work orders
  • Report safety issues immediately to management
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds with regularity
