Job summary

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A driver’s license and ASE Master Technician certification.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and service diesel trucks, tractors, refrigeration units, and trailers.
  • Perform 90-day A and B PM service per DOT guidelines.
  • Repair brake, powertrain, suspension, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding and fabrication of repairs on boxes and structural components.
  • Use publications and diagnostic tools to repair equipment.
  • Coordinate with Lead Technician and Distribution Supervisor to schedule work.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and accurate paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with affected departments.
  • Occasional night and weekend shifts; rotate as needed.

Job description

This position contributes successfully to our operations because you will:

  • Approach work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in Model Dairy Mission Statement to identify, value, prioritize, resource, and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Own and promote a Safety Culture by ensuring a safe work environment and promoting proper safety behavior.
  • First point of contact for truck and tractor problems and concerns.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of diesel trucks, tractors, refrigeration units, and trailers.
  • Performs 90-day A and B PM services as per DOT guidelines
  • Completes necessary repairs on all systems on diesel trucks, tractors, refrigeration units, and trailers.
  • Service and repair brake, powertrain, and suspension components.
  • Troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic circuits and systems.
  • Service and repair of cold box and lift-gate assemblies.
  • Use technical information and publications to repair equipment and systems.
  • Work with other technicians and leadership from multiple departments to ensure necessary equipment is safe and ready for use.
  • Work with Lead Technician and/or Distribution Supervisor to schedule necessary work.
  • Working safely and follow all company safety standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of paperwork updated and properly entered upon completion of repairs.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with affected departments.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the department.
  • Possible night and weekend shifts (Rotating).
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by Distribution Supervisor/Manager and/or Lead Technician.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality are an essential function of this position.
  • Welding and fabrication of necessary repairs on boxes and structural components.
  • Repair of electric and hydraulic lift-gates.
  • Computer aided troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Position Requirements (Qualifications and Skills):

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrate organization and accuracy skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects/tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility should priorities and/or deadlines change.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Must be able to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Class A Driver’s license
  • ASE Medium-Heavy Master Technician
