Diesel Technician

Location: Orlando, FL

Shift: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Experience: 2-5 years

Pay: $26-$32 per hour, based on experience

Job Description

The Diesel Technician will perform repairs on diesel tractors and trailers, troubleshoot and estimate repairs using diagnostic tools, and take corrective actions. The technician should be able to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), complete routine inspections and replacements, and make safety and value-based decisions regarding operation, repair, or replacement. The role involves using the American Trucking Association (ATA) system and other manuals and check sheets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Possess and continually upgrade personal set of tools
• Perform basic welding and cutting
• Conduct proper preventive maintenance including lubrication, filter changes, inspections, and ensuring truck appearance and safety
• Diagnose and repair basic electrical systems such as starters, alternators, and batteries
• Maintain a solid background in diesel tractor and trailer repair and maintenance
• Understand tire maintenance including tread, inflation, rotation, wear, and wheel reconditioning
• Identify exhaust-related failures including DPF, DOC, and EGR systems
• Utilize basic computer skills
• Assist in parts inventory management

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience
• Own tools required
• Steel toe boots required
• Valid driver's license required
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
