Qualifications

Position Description

We are immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Macon, Georgia.

  • Hourly Pay: $24.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign-On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: Second shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Two or more years of relevant classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:

  • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct standard vehicle and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics
  • Identify root causes of failures and perform repairs
  • Replace defective components
  • Support facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of issues
  • Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Adhere to all safety, DOT, MOT, and compliance guidelines
  • Support additional operational duties as needed
