Nussbaum Transportation is expanding its team of Diesel Technicians at our shop in Channahon, IL. In this role you will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet equipment, DOT inspections, and strive for safety-first operations.

We seek a Diesel Tech degree or 1+ year experience, strong electrical/hydraulic knowledge, and good communication. The schedule features 12-hour shifts with a 3 and 4 day split; pay ranges from $23 to $45 per hour, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Diesel Technician Degree OR 1+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy-duty trailer technician.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other automotive systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical diagnostics.
• Knowledge of diesel/trailer maintenance processes and methods.
• Effective communication with colleagues and superiors.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance on semi-trucks & trailers.
• Diagnose and repair fleet equipment.
• Perform all inspections, including State and Federal mandated safety inspections.
• Complete repairs following DOT requirements.
• Perform system repairs, including air & hydraulic systems, tires, suspension, electrical, etc.
• Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned tractor/trailer equipment.
• Follow safe work practices.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.

We’re expanding our team ofDiesel Technicians at our shop in Channahon, IL. You’ll need a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and ideally a Diesel Tech degree or a year+ experience as a diesel/heavy-duty trailer mechanic. We need working equipment ready to go at all times, so this role is critical to Nussbaum’s success! Your duties include:

Schedule

• Full-Time position – 1 st shift (Shift based on current shop needs)
• 12-hour shifts with a 3 and 4 day split
  • Sunday through Tuesday or Thursday through Saturday every week
  • Wednesday every other week
  • 6:00AM – 6:00PM

• Pay range: $23 – $45 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Job Requirements

Experience & Qualifications (Preferred but not required)

• Brake and DOT Certifications
• 1 – 2 years of mechanical experience or completion of a tech program
• Welding certificate or 6-months of experience
• Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License(Monthly Incentive)
• Basic toolkit and toolbox
