Qualifications

We are immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

  • Hourly Pay: $23.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off, with one day off during the week
  • Hours: First shift, 4-10 hours days, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:

  • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check including drug and alcohol verification from the last 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical/electronic problems
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs
  • Replace defective components
  • Support facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
  • Support other operations as needed, including service island duties
