Job summary

Texas Southmost College is seeking an adjunct trainer to design and deliver diesel technology, preventive maintenance, and heavy equipment mechanics training for continuing education and workforce partnerships. Assignments are project-based and vary by employer demand, contract timelines, and workforce initiatives.

The role requires delivering customized, short-term training across classroom, lab, live shop, or hybrid settings with flexible scheduling, and does not guarantee ongoing employment;

Qualifications

• Experience delivering noncredit workforce training to adult learners.
• Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles.
• Knowledge of diesel technology and heavy equipment operations.
• Ability to collaborate with employers and college workforce staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver noncredit workforce training aligned to employer needs and contractual requirements.
• Prepare and teach departmental courses with learner-centered lesson plans.
• Deliver instruction in corporate, classroom, laboratory, mechanical shop facility, virtual, or hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with employers and college staff to customize curriculum and training materials.
• Administer assessments and document student learning outcomes and attendance.
• Maintain diesel laboratory spaces and ensure safety and organization of facilities.
