Job summary

Texas State Technical College is seeking an Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction in diesel/heavy-duty equipment, engage with students, and mentor them toward successful learning outcomes. The role requires coursework development, diverse teaching methods, and active student advisement.

The instructor will integrate technology, manage class schedules, and collaborate with the Office of Student Success to support retention and outcomes. Strong industry experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Be able to read wiring diagrams, perform resistance checks, and measure voltage drops.
• Be able to check and adjust all fluid levels as needed.
• Perform tire pressure monitoring system service and repairs.
• Repair and rebuild engines; diagnose steering and suspension systems; service HVAC 134a & 1234yf systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes with creative techniques.
• Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain student records and ensure safety in the instructional environment.
• Advise students with timely information and coordinate tutoring/retention programs.
• Participate in recruitment and promotion of programs.
• Demonstrate teamwork and strong customer service toward students and staff.
• Incorporate technology to enrich learning experiences.
