Job summary

Savannah Logistics Group seeks a Diesel Shop Manager to lead the shop team, including technicians and drivers, ensuring safety and operational standards. The role oversees planning, invoicing, preventive maintenance, inventory, budgeting, and regulatory compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA.

You will develop efficient procedures, set performance standards, manage costs, and lead continuous improvement across rolling assets while mentoring staff and maintaining strong company relations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 15 years of related experience in fleet management, operations, general management.
• Minimum of 10 years diesel tech experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations.
• Effectively manage 10+ employees.

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight and planning of the company shop and rolling assets.
• Create and maintain efficient shop performance standards (SRT's, KPI's, SOPs) and policies.
• Maintain adherence to safety policies and develop SOPs as needed.
• Oversee DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules/regulations compliance.
• Manage parts inventories and monitor costs vs. budget.
• Ensure timely driver invoicing and oversee preventive maintenance schedules.
• Interview, train and coach staff and conduct performance reviews.
• Develop business plans and procedures to streamline productivity.
• Build relationships with OEMs and vendors for current and future tech.
