Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services in Colby, KS is seeking a Diesel Service Technician to support our service team with in-shop diagnostics and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks. You will diagnose using OEM software and perform engine/transmission work in line with dealer specifications.

The role requires a minimum of two years in manual fabrication, a high school diploma or GED, and a related tech certificate preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, tech school certificate in related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of related manual fabrication experience from blueprints, with both standard and metric measurements
  • Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
  • Strong diagnostic skills
  • Ability to repair components and equipment per dealer/manufacturer standards (flat-rate time)
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Commitment to safe, orderly work environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks
  • Use OEM diagnostic software to diagnose repairs per dealer specs
  • Perform engine swings, transmission work, air brake services, and chassis repairs
  • In-frame overhaul of heavy-duty engines to factory specs
  • Overhaul of Allison transmissions
  • Operate engine, transmission, and chassis dynos for diagnostics
  • Clock on to work orders and manage paperwork
  • Repair various components of on-highway vehicles
  • Complete timekeeping for labor and job tracking
  • Follow management directions and maintain safety standards
