TCAT Jacksboro is seeking a Diesel Powered Equipment Technology Instructor to join our on-campus program. This full-time faculty position will teach and mentor students in diesel technology, manage coursework, and support their career placement.

The instructor will develop curricula, maintain records, comply with FERPA, and collaborate with advisory committees to ensure program quality and student success.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience in the occupation to be taught.
  • Current ASE Service Technician Certifications required.

Job Summary

TCAT Jacksboro has a current opening for a Diesel Powered Equipment Technology Instructor. This full-time position on campus position.

Job Duties
  • Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
  • Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
  • Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in‑service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
  • Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities, including SkillsUSA, NTHS, graduation, and other events.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision‑making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement as well as accreditation standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three years of experience in the occupation to be taught.
  • Current ASE Service Technician Certifications are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A technical diploma in Diesel or Heavy Equipment Repair is highly preferred. Consideration will be given to a comparable combination of education and directly related experience.
  • ASE Master Technician in Medium/Heavy Duty Repair
  • Prior teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must have a strong hands‑on technical background in all aspects of diesel technology.
  • Must possess excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills for the effective transfer of knowledge and skills to students for job placement of graduates in the field.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and remain current in the field.
  • Be willing to learn and use individualized instructional techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Must possess computer skills and ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Use of computer
  • Normal standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Must be physically able to lift, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work‑based projects in a classroom and shop setting.
  • Ability to operate instructional equipment.
Salary

Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines. Associate level instructor range is Minimum $56,263 to Midpoint $67,517.
