Job summary

Thompson Machinery, a Caterpillar dealer serving Middle and West Tennessee and North Mississippi, is seeking an Electric Power Generation Technician. The role involves installation, maintenance, diagnostics, repair and service of diesel-powered standby generators at various customer sites, with travel within the territory and independent fieldwork.

Ideal candidates have Power Generation Technology training, 2+ years of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting on 8.5kW–2,500kW gensets, strong

Qualifications

Power Generation Technology training or Power Production and Maintenance training from accredited schools or military experience.
High school diploma required.
Two or more years of hands-on electrical diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting on diesel generators.
Willingness to travel up to 20% within territory.
Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

Install, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair and service of diesel powered standby electrical generation equipment.
Interpret technical instructions, safety manuals and company policies.
Work with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and ladder logic; use test equipment.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and high-quality repair on power gen, switchgear and UPS systems.
Maintain safety, customer satisfaction and business responsibility within a branch region.
Travel to customer sites and operate largely independently with a field service truck.
