Job summary
GFL Environmental Inc. seeks an experienced Diesel Mechanic to safely operate, repair, rebuild and maintain company heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
The role focuses on routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs for a refuse fleet to ensure safe operations. The position requires owning a personal set of basic mechanics tools, a valid driver's license, and at least 1 year of diesel tech experience.
Qualifications
- 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
- Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
- Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure DOT and company standards compliance.
- Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
