Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on diesel trucks and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations. The role requires at least 1 year of diesel tech experience, own basic tools, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
