  2. Sunday - Thursday, 5:00 pm - 2:00 am

Position Purpose

We prioritize safety! The Diesel Technician - Class B ensures a safe operation by repairing, maintaining, and overhauling all company fleet diesel equipment, ensuring compliance standards are met and safe usage for associates.

Primary Responsibilities

The Diesel Technician - Class B performs preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and convertor dollies with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and standard component inspections of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units). Identifying root causes and performing necessary repairs.
  • Ensuring equipment has required licensing and registration for roadworthiness.
  • Documenting work orders thoroughly through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
  • Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts, replacing parts as needed.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication, using hand and power tools.
  • Training and guiding other Mechanics.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. 3-5 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates/2-Year Technical or Vocational/Trade School Diploma. 5-7 years of relevant experience in vehicle repair. Preferred certifications include tire & wheel, brakes, AC &/or EPA, DOT inspections, transmissions, engines, ASE Heavy Duty.
