Position Purpose

We value the safety of our associates! The Diesel Technician - Class B keeps our associates safe by repairing, maintaining, and overhauling all company fleet diesel equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance standards.

Primary Responsibilities

The Diesel Technician Class B performs preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and convertor dollies with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include:

  • Completing preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units). Identifying root causes and performing repairs as required.
  • Ensuring equipment has required licensing and registration prior to roadworthy status.
  • Documenting work orders thoroughly through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
  • Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts, replacing parts as needed.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Training and guiding other Mechanics.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent. 3-5 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PMs, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration.
