Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a skilled diesel technician in Warren, MI to diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers and reefer units. This full-time role offers a 4-day work week, a $5,000 sign-on bonus, and benefits starting Day 1.

You will perform preventative maintenance, inspect critical systems, document work orders, and provide road-call service as needed, ensuring compliance with state and federal trucking regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • 5–7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience.
  • Experience with PMs, brakes, diagnosis, electrical troubleshooting and A/C refrigeration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers).
  • Inspect brakes, steering, wheel bearings and replace worn parts as needed.
  • Ensure roadworthiness; verify licensing and registration compliance.
  • Document work orders and repairs in the Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Provide road call services as required.

Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Communicates and interacts with co-workers. Technicians are responsible for the documentation, completion, and keeping the work orders for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will be required to perform road call services as needed.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete and perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) as well as, identifying root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as requiredInspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of partsEnsure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as “roadworthy”Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management systemInstall, replace, and repair onboard computersUse hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoistsPerform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoistsTrain other employeesPerforms other related duties as assigned.It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or EquivalentRequired Experience: 5 - 7 Years5+ years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair including PM‘s, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in A/C refrigeration.
