Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Roseville, Michigan to join a team focused on heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair. The role offers a stable track with a weekly pay schedule and comprehensive benefits.

The position requires handling routine services, diagnostic work, and component repairs, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. It includes a second shift and a competitive hourly rate with a sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A preferred; must obtain within 6 months.
• Basic tools required.
• Experience with diesel engines and preventive maintenance preferred.
• 2+ years of combined classroom and work experience preferred.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Conducts routine preventive maintenance.
• Maintains records in Shop Management System.
• Works in compliance with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.

• Hourly Pay:$33.73 per hour
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year
• Sign On Bonus: $1500
• Schedule Tuesday - Saturday
• Hours: Second Shift Tuesday -Thursday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Friday 12:00 pm-8:30 pm, Saturday 6:00 am -230 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
