Pay range: $15.00 - $32.00 per hour DEQ plus $8.00/billed hour commission.

Responsibilities

The Shop Diesel Mechanic/Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs efficiently and professionally.
Essential Job Duties/Functions:
- Perform PMs and oil changes.
- Grease trucks and trailers.
- Perform tire services.
- Conduct CSA/DOT inspections.
- Handle service calls and night call-outs.
- Perform intermediate to advanced electrical repairs and diagnostics.
- Complete wheel end repairs (e.g., S-cam/bushing replacement, spindle repairs, bearing replacements, wheel seals).
- Perform air system repairs (diagnostics, tank replacement, air bags, leveling valves, dash valves).
- Conduct basic HVAC repairs (evacuate & recharge, diagnose failures).
- Complete coolant repairs (thermostats, water pumps, hoses, radiators).
- Perform basic welding.
- Handle starting/charging repairs (batteries, alternators, starters) and diagnostics.
- Complete engine repairs (belts, tensioners, pulleys).
- Perform steering/suspension repairs (shocks, reservoirs, filters, alignments).
- Work on drivetrain and transmission repairs (clutch adjustments, U-joints, bearings).
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in good condition.
- Organize and put away parts and tires properly.
- Complete work orders accurately with customer and warranty information.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and uphold company integrity.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Complete OSHA Skills Demonstration within the first week.
- Stay current with LMS training.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Report to work punctually as scheduled.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience (including certifications/licenses):
- TIATire Service Certified within 18 months of employment.
- Air Brake Certification.
- DOT Medical Card required.
- Minimum of two years experience as a diesel technician.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license and insurability.
- Completion of brake and wheel seal training.
- Willingness to attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training.
- Ability to obtain ASE, DOT, TIA, and other certifications.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed.
- Reliable transportation and phone.
- Ability to communicate in English (if applicable).
- Willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
- Ability to work well with team members.
- Proficiency in skills required by Tech I training.
Physical Requirements:
- Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 lbs.
- Frequently stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
