Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDIESEL MECHANIC TECHNICIANMonday – Friday7:00 am – 5:00 pm$17.00 - $18.00 per hourESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform repair work and maintenance for diesel trucks, buses and other diesel motor vehicles.
  • Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  • Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills is a must.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Master technician certification .
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
