Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Ocala, FL is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.

You will diagnose and repair trucks, perform scheduled maintenance, manage work orders, and uphold safety standards while supporting a team dedicated to keeping communities clean.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic.
• High school diploma or GED; technical diploma or trade school preferred.
• Proficient with diagnostic software/tools and able to learn new software systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Maintenance and overhauls: perform scheduled maintenance, rebuilds, and major repairs.
• Work order management: track repairs, order parts, and schedule jobs using our M5 system.
• Safety first: maintain safe working conditions and comply with safety regulations.

Our Mechanics safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely, so our Drivers can continue tokeep local neighborhoods clean and safe, by courteously and efficiently providing waste removal and environmental services to customers.

Diesel Mechanic – Up to $30+/Hour

Shift: Monday – Friday, 1:30 PM – Midnight

Schedule: 5x10s 50hours/week OT weekly and year-round | Only 1 Saturday/Month Required

Location: Ocala FL

Pay: Up to $30.00+/hour (based on experience)

The Job:

As a Diesel Mechanic, you are the backbone of our operations. You’ll keep our fleet of heavy-duty diesel trucks and rolling stock running safely and efficiently so our drivers can serve the community.

• Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot and fix heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.

• Maintenance & Overhauls: Perform scheduled maintenance, rebuilds, and major repairs.

• Work Order Management: Track repairs, order required parts, and schedule jobs using our M5 system.

• Safety First: Maintain safe working conditions, comply with safety regulations, and utilize standard power and hand tools.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic.

• Education: High school diploma or GED (technical diploma or trade school preferred).

• Skills: Proficient with diagnostic software/tools and comfortable learning new software systems.

• Tools: Must possess and maintain your own set of tools required for heavy equipment maintenance.

• Mindset: Reliable, independent problem solver who follows safety procedures and federal/state/local regulations.

• Physical Capability: Ability to safely operate equipment and perform all physical aspects of heavy vehicle maintenance.
