Job summary

WM is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for our Springfield, IL shop to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks and equipment. You’ll work a standard Monday–Friday schedule with training periods, earning a starting wage of $31.15 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be over 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area compliant with OSHA standards.
• Document parts usage and repair times; complete required paperwork.
• Assist senior mechanics on project work and DVIR follow-ups.
