WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Hyattsville, MD, offering a starting pay range of $28.00 to $32.50 per hour with comprehensive benefits and a focus on safety. The role operates in a shop setting with a regular Monday–Friday schedule and potential rotating Saturdays.

You will diagnose and repair diesel trucks and related equipment, using modern tools to maintain our fleet and support communities served across the USA. Training and growth are emphasized within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of relevant mechanic experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record is required.
• Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the US.
• Pre-employment drug screen is required and must pass.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on trucks and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts.
• Perform work within standard labor repair times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Maintain safety checks and a clean work area per OSHA standards.
• Document parts usage and repair times; complete required paperwork.
• Assist senior mechanics on project work and reviews.
• Review and act on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
