Job description

What you’ll need to succeed as a Diesel Mechanic at XPO:

1. 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
2. Obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent).
3. Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills.
4. Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance.
5. Basic computer skills.
6. Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
7. Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.
8. Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, prior mechanical experience, ASE certifications, experience with trailer repair, diesel engine diagnostics, and air conditioning repairs.

About the Diesel Mechanic job:

• Pay up to $39.61/hour including Master Certification and shift differential.
• Up to $3,500 in bonuses available.
• Shift options: 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm) and 3rd shift (11:00pm - 7:30am), Monday to Friday.
• Quarterly tool allowance, full health benefits from day one, life and disability insurance, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with match, and education assistance.
• This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position.

Typical daily tasks include:

1. Performing routine maintenance and repairs on class 6-8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailers.
2. Inspecting and maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and repairing HVAC systems.
3. Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
4. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment and collaborating with management.

Physical requirements involve lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and physical movements like bending, climbing, and reaching.
