Job summary

Case Farms seeks an experienced diesel mechanic responsible for daily preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of vehicles, with on-site emergency support as needed in the field.

The role involves basic pre-trips, paperwork, safe operation of equipment, FMCSA standard brake adjustments, welding, and component replacements. Must have tools, DOT compliance, and be able to work nights/weekends as required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license (MVR check required).
• Willing to work overtime as required.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
• ASC Certification (preferred).
• Ability to work with Insite software.
• Experience in Fleet Maintenance Operations or transferable skills.
• Must provide own tools.
• 2 years Garage/Diesel Mechanic experience preferred.
• Follow DOT, state and federal laws and safety policies.

Responsibilities

Job description

Primarily responsible for daily preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the vehicles assigned as well as providing onsite emergency assistance as required when issues arise in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Performs basic Pre-Trips on all various rolling stock.
• Performs all necessary paperwork associated with the assigned job, i.e., (work orders, charge parts out).
• Drives various equipment safely on the lot or into the garage work area.
• Adjust brakes and clutches to FMCSA standards.
• Performs all Category C tasks.
• Changes/replaces clutches; PMs all equipment; makes or repairs hydraulics or hoses.
• Performs work assignments with minimum direction from the supervisor.
• Performs basic welding functions along with being able to change out a variety of components related to equipment
• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have valid driver’s license (MVR check is condition of employment).
• Willing and capable of working overtime as required.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
• ASC Certification (preferred).
• Ability to work with Insite software.
• In-depth knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Operations or transferable skill sets from similar industries.
• Ability to provide own tools.
• 2 years Garage/Diesel Mechanic experience preferred.
• Follow Department of Transportation, State and Federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
• Must be able to follow workplace safety rules, including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout Tag out procedures, and process safety management-related matters.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Occasionally work in outdoor environments (including inclement weather).
• Lift up to 75 lbs.
• Work around raw, live animal odors.
• Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
• Must be able to work in a stationary position or on feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.
