Job description

Bowser Chevrolet in Chippewa is seeking a Diesel Service Technician. The Diesel Tech is responsible for repairs, inspection, and maintenance on medium duty vehicles. Diesel Service Technicians must maintain their inspection and emission licenses and certifications to ensure that they are complying with the most up to date mandates and technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Test vehicle parts and systems for correct operation.
  2. Identify mechanical problems, often by using diagnostic equipment.
  3. Follow checklists to ensure all checks are conducted on each vehicle.
  4. Perform basic to advanced maintenance including but not limited to oil changes, tune-ups, transmissions, as well as electronic and air conditioning systems.
  5. Replace, repair, and/or retro-fit worn parts.
  6. Assist Service Manager and Service Advisors in dealing with customers.
  7. Explain automotive problems to customers when necessary.
  8. Maintain all training mandated by the dealership.
  9. Maintain own tools necessary to complete repairs.
  10. Abide by government regulations.
  11. Comply with Bowser safety policies and procedures.
  12. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  1. Excellent customer service skills.
  2. Valid state inspection and emission license.
  3. Valid CDL drivers' license in good standing.
  4. Ability to multitask.
  5. Demonstrate good judgment.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Standing/walking/bending/stooping approximately 8 hours/day.
  2. Ability to lift no more than 70 lbs. at a time.
