Our mechanics play a crucial role in the safe operation of our transit system, ensuring the safety of passengers who rely on transit for their daily commutes.

Profile

Mechanic Responsibilities and Specific Duties

1. Demonstrate a "safety first" attitude.
2. Possess computer skills to repair sub-components of all types of buses.
3. Understand and follow schematics.
4. Maintain a customer-focused attitude with high professionalism and discretion.
5. Maintain confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with integrity.
6. Be detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent, and capable of operating independently with limited supervision, completing work accurately and timely.
7. Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills.
8. Exercise sound judgment with good problem-solving and analytical skills, troubleshooting technical issues, and communicating solutions effectively.
9. Be flexible and able to work in a 24/7 environment.
10. Preferably have one (1) year of progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience.
11. Hold an ASE Transit Certificate.
12. Possess a two (2) year technical degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
13. Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses, or seminars is desirable.
14. Have a high school diploma or GED and a valid North Carolina driver's license with CDL endorsement.
15. Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software is required.
16. Ability to learn design, maintenance, and adjustments of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling systems, engines, lighting, gauges, safety equipment, fire suppression systems, sensitive edges, tires, and transmissions.
17. Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Mechanic rate depends on experience, ranging from $28.29 to $37.71.
