Job Overview
Pay: $25-28 per hour, overtime, sign‑on bonus, per diem, and paid travel time to and from the hitch (5‑7 hours). Schedule: 15 days on and 6 days off, 85‑90 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, AC, air brakes, lights, horn, lift and install heavy components, and inspect vehicles for mechanical deficiencies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Communicate with drivers and management regarding vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Accurately record all maintenance activity on company documentation.
- Monitor Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) for commercial vehicles (tractor‑trailer, bobtail, fuel trailer, and pick‑up trucks).
- Handle purchasing functions, such as issuing purchase orders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Satisfactorily pass a drug, alcohol, and background check.
- Pass a DOT physical or "Fit for Duty" physical exam.
- Must be insurable to drive company vehicles.
- Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
- Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with fuel pump equipment and hoses.
- Familiarity with DOT and related rules and regulations for commercial vehicle maintenance and compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to meet the daily physical requirements of the work.
Compensation and Benefits
- $25‑28 per hour.
- Time and a half pay for hours over 40 in a work week.
- $300 sign‑on bonus.
- Paid travel time to and from the hitch (5‑7 hours).
