Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to keep our fleet rolling. You will diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, using diagnostic software and your own tools to ensure safe, reliable operation.

This role requires planning repairs, sourcing parts, and maintaining a clean, safety-focused work environment. Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of hands-on diesel/heavy equipment experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a technical certification is

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or trade certification strongly preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
Comfort using computer diagnostic software and maintaining digital work orders.
Must possess, provide, and maintain own tools for heavy/hydraulic equipment maintenance.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs in a dynamic shop environment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles and rolling stock.
Utilize diagnostic software, manuals, and tools to identify root mechanical issues.
Plan and schedule repairs in the M5 planner, procure parts, and assist with write‑ups and work orders.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety regulations.
Collaborate with teammates, assist in training new mechanics, and participate in seminars.
